it wouldn't be a problem adding a link to useful threads, but not to include an apps list in the actual FAQ.
a. it's subjective, each user having different needs/wants, and having their own preferences (handled better in a thread of its own).
b. it would be too much info for a document like this one.

some of the forum *bloat* has occurred, IMHO, because a document like the one proposed doesn't yet exist, and users aren't using the search feature as much as they should. (please notice the IMHO, my opinion).

i'm sure theres more that hasn't been covered, so please guys, add your thoughts. if you think it's covered, then please say so... add your views.

and thanks for reading

Something about android market would be useful. After a factory reset and new log in I had a whole 6 hours of access. I downloaded both free and paid apps. Then it stopped working. From what I read this is not unusual. So a mention might be helpful to the new user

Add to that 'required utilities', such as the Samba wireless LAN filesharing app.

yup, a valid point, and one i'm surprised i forgot. theres been so much mention of the marketplace not working, im sure a quick search by any user will help them to realise the issue, but i've added it to the list anyway..

as an owner of 2 scrolls, its easier for me to have something like dropbox, rather than 2 installs of samba.
i think the "required apps" are a subjective issue, but i will edit the first post...

Why would another program which has to be accessed be easier that seamless LAN filesharing which (optionally) starts up with the WiFi and requires no outside programs? It's not like you have to do anything other than connect the WiFi, as you do, for the connectivity. Doesn't matter how many Scrolls you have, you don't have to do anything to use it. Surely simply dumping files to the Scroll itself is preferable to dumping them to some other program, especially as you have to have the WiFi on in any case.

Personally, I like my Scroll showing up as a hard drive on my PC (mapped network drive). Like I said, it's seamless :¬)

Besides, why would I want to send my files to an outside server, which for all I know stores a backup of the data, rather than just send it to my drive??

its easier for me, i dump it all in one location, and decide on each scroll what i want. now if it was a samba *client* app, that would be different. altho as a linux user i'd prefer nfs. i already have enough mounted network drives with whole house audio/video setup, another couple would just help to confuse *me*. my opinion, tho i appreciate that isnt true for everyone.
in the first line of my quoted reply to you, that was my opinion. the second line was me saying i was still gonna edit the first post, which i did.

your ideas for the apps are all good ones, tho as i said subjective, so i'd find it hard to class them as required. but as i said in the edited first post, its a good idea that should have a thread of its own (and a link to it in the FAQ).
first a collaboration thread for people to add their recommended (or required) apps, then a single post new thread with the compiled listing. done in group-like catagories. and that's the one link to in the FAQ.
