Testing broadband dongle.

Postby Silvermachine » February 11th, 2011, 9:46 pm

How would I go about trying a Vodaphone broadband dongle on the Scroll ?

I can copy and paste the installation software onto an SD card but I don't know where to download it to. If that makes sense ?

You won't have much luck I'm afraid as its down to drivers built in to the firmware of the scroll if when you plug it in and nothing happens then its unlikley to work may be worth finding out if any mbb dongles have been tested and working ill try my old orange option 225 Android let you know: )

I have both Tmobile and Three dongles working fine on my Linux netbook.
The problem is that the range of USB devices the Scroll sees by default seems to be limited to just memory sticks and keyboards. Not even my USB 250G hard drive is seen.

Will need some mods down at the Linux level to fix.

The other problem I can forsee is battery life.

Having to power a dongle will make the Scroll battery life rather short but we have to get it working to see if it is going to be practically useful.
