Detection found the Market fix !

I'm struggling to install the market app at the moment. I have the market.zip file that was in the very first post in this thread, tried copying that to the Scroll. Then tried extracting vending.apk, the Scroll sees it, but says there is an error parsing the file (so will not install).

Any ideas?

You need to have installed ClockWorkMod first, then copy the entire Market.zip to the SDCARD

Boot into recovery clockworkmod, and choose "install zip from sdcard" - navigate to the zip and install it that way

I now have a rooted scroll, tried installing the CWM but didn't see the last couple of posts in the thread (about the 1.02s firmware). So recovery partition doesn't work any more for me.

I'll keep an eye on the other thread, hopefully a workaround will pop up soon (I don't know enough about the OS to figure it out for myself).

Hi, im having problems with this fix.

the first part in setting up emulator and getting android ID from it goes fine.
However in the command prompt i can't get it to recognise my Scroll. I've tried hooking it up with both usb and wifi to no avail.
i do the adb command for IP address (using IP address i get from my wifi settings) and then adb list devices, but it just say's list of devices attached and nothing else. Then when i do the long 'meta value' command it says "error:device not found".

This is as far as I have now managed to get. Tried the various usb drivers etc with no luck conecting to my scroll?
So close to a working market I can feel the force...

If adb can not talk to your scroll, then there is a problem with the drivers.

These drivers have been shown to work with Vista and 7 - not with XP afaik

You must install the driver as "Android Composite ADB Device"

Is there any other way of installing the market app? I can install apk files ok by copying over via USB, just cannot use the update.zip file as I cannot run the CWM mod.

Thanks Nemka, but it's getting hold of the app that's the problem (installing it is the easy bit).

If you got CWM installed you don't need to rename to update... You just use the option within the CWM MENU to install .zip file.

I cannot run CWM, so cannot use recovery. I need a way of installing the market app via apk if possible.
