Hi, we bought one of the scrolls for our daughters birthday and have struggled with lots of things! and kids being kids want everything there in an instant lol! we have struggled with loading movies onto a card so she can watch! it states it can play mp4s but every one we have tried it doesn't recognise it! we have had some avi's working but they freeze! music some work some dont! and last of all the marketplace! whats going on there? have read the last help about the marketplace and found the replies to gordon a little condescending!! if you are not computer literate then following these instructions would be very confusing!

Is it worth conecting to a computer and transferring files that way? also how do we update the software has anyone got a link?

so in a nut shell could someone please help us get the scroll updated to work nearly to its potential and get music and video onto the scroll please?

Hi Alison, welcome to the madhouse!

I'll answer as many questions as I can....

The market not working.... thats a well-known issue. Storage Options have realised that the market they are using is unlicenced, so the market will not normally download apps. It may work for a few days then suddenly stop. There is a fix for this which is mentioned on this forum. Use the search box (top right of this page) and put in "market fix".

You could connect the scroll the a pc via usb (not the host port, thats for keyboards/mice/external hdd's) but i find the easier way is to use a usb card reader and an sd adapter with the card from your scroll...One small point i'll make here is the card and slot - dont try and insert in at an angle, it will dissappear inside your scroll and never be seen again. Also when you remove it keep a finger on it, sods law states it will ping off into the distance with a 5% chance of you finding it!

Regarding updates etc, you need to look here: http://www.storageoptions.com/support although you are probably on the latest firmware (1.02). On the main scroll page, there is a paragraph about the market situation (at the bottom)

Videos and music... thats something ive never had on my scroll so cant really advise you correctly, i'll leave that for another member to answer for you if I may.(Points to video/audio experts)

Lastly, condescending? us? not sure bout that :D we're a nice bunch, but we do have a wacky sense of humour. That said we do all we can to help each other as much as possible, if you need something explained in plain english we will do so, or maybe even in another language if needed!

Have fun and enjoy the forum and your new toy!
Dave

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

Hi were not really mad just a little crayz :D

You could install (trying to remember name of app, can't so switches Scroll on.) mvideoPlayer as that (I think) supports more video formats.

As for music PowerAMP is a realy nice player.

Games: Xtower and Xconstruct are good games, the latter being educational too!
