Removing apk files

Postby mf455 » February 28th, 2011, 9:31 pm

Probably a stupid question (and one to which I think I know the answer) but since it is better to ask and risk looking stupid than not ask and actually do something stupid here goes ...

I downloaded some apps (apk files) to my PC, copied them to an SD card, then used Astro (the pre installed App Installer only seems to install from the internal drive, unless I am doing something wrong) to install on my Scroll. So far, no problem. Once the apps are installed on the Scroll can I remove the apk files from the SD card or are they still needed when the app is running?

I think it should be safe to remove them since a) the 2.1 firmware can' t run apps from the SD Card and b) if the file was still needed the app would crash if you ever swapped cards or took the card out of the device.

Obviously I've still got the original apk's on myPC as backup if I need to reinstall ever but can I remove the files from the SD Card.

I really wish there was some decent documentation / user guide with this device so we didn't have to rely on the kindness of this forum and its members.
Mike
