ROM Manager

Postby Detection » January 6th, 2011, 10:56 am

Ive just found an app on the Black Market called "ROM Manager v3.0.0.5" by ClockworkMod

Ive installed it, and the menu screen has these options.

-------------------------------------------------

Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Reboot into Recovery

Install ROM from SDCard
Check for New ROM Updates
Install From QRCode

Manage and Restore Backups
Backup current ROM

Fix Permissions
Partition SDCard

Flash Alternate Recovery
All Clockwork Mod Recoveries

----------------------------------------------

It looks like this free app has all the options we need, and without all the command prompt / batch files

Download here, or get from the Black Market on Scroll

The main problem with this is that it won't allow you to flash the nanopad recovery image, as its not listed when you select 'Flash ClockworkMod recovery' - I still needed the command line to do this.

My understanding (although I am a confessed newbie to android) is that it will allow the user to make a backup of the android device, and should this goe "bricky" afford a better chence of reinstalling the android OS. In addition, I do not believe that the pre-installed recovery system allows you to backup your device - hence the need for a more "advance" recovery service i.e. recovery.nanopad, img

That is my understanding, though I am not the best really to answer this question!

Ah right, so its not actually the image we will be recovering the scroll to, rather the program we will be using to perform the backup and recovery

We still need to extract the ROM using this... Got ya
