Found out why nand was full

Postby Charlie » April 1st, 2011, 11:19 am

This might help others,

Just found out today why /nand/ was full - I found this file .thumbdata3-125478999 in /nand/DCIM

It looks like a thumbnail file, but it was 1.21GB (yes GB) - So I copied it to the PC (just in case I do need it later, but I doubt it) and deleted it from the Scroll, now I have 1.21GB space freed on the scroll, space that is much needed for more useful items.

You may have a large file like this on your Scroll but I guess the numbers will be different to mine, but the file does a similar thing as mine, but is unique to your Scroll.

Anyone know what App, etc. created this file?

DCIM is something to do with a camera as far as I remember (My digital cam has one of those folders/files on it).

Ill do a bit of digging and report back.

A list of files on the scroll and what they do would be most welcome - that's if anyone has the knowledge and of course time to create such a list?

Charlie: I just checked the size of this file on my Scroll - only 14kb. Here comes the "Oohhhh, its SOOOOO big" jokes!

Yes Im new here and an explanation of the files and folder layout for the Scroll would be a great help. My previously owned Scroll seems to have loads of empty folders and folders with unwanted data but I don't know what Simon safe to del.

This (DCMI folder) has been addressed in my last reply to you on your original thread if you read it: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3023#p24744
Please do not start another thread when you already have one going trying to help you - or are you just wasting my time ?
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!
