Free hand writing?

Quick question,

I'm thinking about buying a scroll tablet for the purpose of writing down information in mathematics lectures at university. Obviously to do this the tablet will need to be able to have some kind of free hand writing program, nothing fancy just the ability to put a tablet pen to a screen and write in information.

I hope this doesn't seem like a really stupid question, but I would hate to buy one and not use it for its intended use. Could someone please confirm that this will do the job well, and that you can use a tablet pen to input information on the scroll tablet.

Ollie, you can indeed do this with a number of free apps. however, the experience i have had is not great. the included stylus works *almost* well, but the Scroll's screen is a little too slow to respond to the first few strokes when handwriting.

I haven't tried any of the paid apps, the experience there may be different.

Thanks for your reply Kamikaze, I'm still looking for other tablets that may work with what I have in mind and that I can afford on a student budget.

what you also have to keep in mind is that a tablet with a capacative touchscreen will not accept stylus input, unless it is designed to do so. So the screen on the Scroll is probably one of the better options, but it just lacks finnesse. you may be better off getting the scroll and using the keypad, or just getting some practice with the stylus- i only used it for around 10 minutes to write a note to my GF.
