youtube app not working

Hi,

i have done the phone related apk's mod and now the youtube app is not working i followed the tip below that I found on another forum - but it was not worked.

You do not need to uninstall YouTube. It is crashing because it is still linked to your gmail account, as a hack to get all of the other Google apps working. If you disassociate YouTube from your gmail account, YouTube will once again work!


From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button



Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.

no - just the one that came with the scroll (v1.5.20)- it did work - but something i have done has stopped it.

I saw the phone removal mod seems to have disabled it. Try updating the app and try again

how do i update the app (as its classed as a system app) not seen an option to update

search for youtube on the market
you ca update youtube and gmail this way

thanks - i had already tried that but no youtube (official one) there.

Oh? then you are not seeing the whole mrket I dont think... or the update is only for 2.2

Try renaming the phone.apk back and you should get a working youtube again...
Edit: It appears you need all the phone stuff back on teh phone to have the youtube app working.

Did you remove phone.apk and telephonyprovider.apk? Youtube needs both to work as well as many other Google apps.

so without the above apk's you get better bat life and better market place but no youtube app or many other Google apps.

I really want my cake and eat it (or should that be eclair ) such is life. there will be a workaround for this little set back.

this is what i did,

i removed the old youtube app using root explorer and installed Youtube 2.0 from this site
