scroll will not turn on

Hi, my daughter has a scroll basic plus 54860 that has stopped working, it will not turn on. i have tried the hold volume + button but hat did not work. i think its charging ok. any help would be gratefully received.

You say you think it is charging OK - Is there any way you can prove the charger is actually working and the tablet simply isn't just flat. Have you tried charging via USB, this usually is only a slow trickle but if it shows the charging screen icon then you will know it is the power charger supply failed.

sorry i should have said that i have checked the charger with a volt meter and it's putting out 5.5v so thats o.k. but i dont know if the scroll is accepting a charge. I did'nt know you could slow charge from the USB. i'll give that a try but i don't see any evidence that it is charging.

You don't say how old the device is, I expect you are aware that particularly with age that if the Lithium battery discharges below an inbuilt lower threshold that it can catastrophically fail and not be recharged. Do you think this may have happened in this case?

She got bought it in december 2012 but she's not that good at keeping things charged or takiing them off charge when charging is complete even though at 26 and having been told enough times that some batteries have memory effect. also when on charge i can see a red light coming through the the usb port but there is nothing on the screen to indicate charging is taking place.could the screen be capput.

Unfortunately, your guess is as good as anybodies as you have access to the unit.
If the battery were kaput I would still expect it to boot when plugged into the power pack.
The only thing I can think of but I am unable to help you with is to connect it to a PC to see if anything registers and if it does then maybe someone with knowledge can tell you what useful ADB commands you could use to investigate further.
